Charm

I thought you look beautiful

But that’s not lovely enough

To describe the elegance of your ensemble

Or the fine reality of moments with you

You have blossomed magnificently

Like a superb carving of budding orchids

I thought you look excellent

But that’s not wonderful enough

To depict the ornate motions of your members

Or the fragile sensible twerks you make

Your gestures are crafted perfectly

Like water from  virgin spring showers

I thought you look alluring

But that’s not delicate enough

To portray your subtle slinky attitude

Or the multitude of your muted contrasts

You revealed that nothing

Is charming until it’s different

Stuck

The dame  nature

Wants some good laugh

She decides it’s time

To play a jest on us

With the freezing breeze

And the drift of snow hills

I’m stuck with you

And you with me

So let’s stretch our limits

Pretend it’s humane

To accept our differences

And see one another

Through a veil

Of openness

Armed with a robe

Of community

Sharing a gallon of tolerance

A quart of coffee

And an ounce of chit-chat

We can make it

Through the blizzard

Cheers

May your darkness be illuminated

And your dreams keep you awake

May your pains yield their gains

And your passion not grow cold

May you kill your enemies

With kindness

And your eyes see humor

In everything

May your sorrow inspire an industry

And your days be devoid of regrets

May your nights be full of faith

And your clouds have silver linings

May your new year be happy

And your heartaches be gone

Pardon

Pardon my staring

At what might seem

To be your limbs

Not your long legs per se

Just the red and white stripes

On your  delightful thights

Two life-size  candy canes

With the perfect gap

The flawless curves

And the matchless strides

I gave up the sweets

Once I turned Mormon

But tonight

Dear Lord forgive

I will be tripping between

Hershey’s and Heineken

Gates Of Earth

When I was coming here

The gates of earth demanded

What my quest on the globe would be

I wanted to go and see sunshine

To perceive the thrills of  happiness

To discern the joys of living

To trade and earn the whole earth

To choose all my battles

And say a million hellos

But the gates of earth were fastened

Sending me back to the threshing pool

Deeming  my unreadiness  for life

Back I went pleading

To see the gloomy as well as the sunny days

To feel the  pains as much as the pleasures

To bear the losses along with the  gains

To say goodbyes as much as hellos

To fail as often as necessary

Only then were the gates unbolted

I was ready to do my time

For life is bound to happen

Someday, sometime or somewhere

As it does to all men

Still Want To See

They said you moved on

Like yesterday’s dawn

But there’s more debris mined

From the litter of my mind

You just need to pay one debt

Since you opted to press reset

I still want to know

What it took to desecrate

The moments we treasured of late

How you snuffed out the life

Of our dreams without a strife

Where you tried to bury

Everything we so ever cherished

And just before you grind

Away the secrets we left behind

Tell me how you moved on

I thought you were genius

Never saw you were vicious

Dissidents

The war has long been over

Yet the battle rages on

Like virulent phages on a clover

The captives have all been freed

Our children keep needing their heroes

Our backs keep kneading the linens

Our arms keep pleading  for warmth

Our husbands keep speeding away from home

They have found new love in  hate

Campaigning for more combats

They have chosen the art of protests

Fighting to resurrect the conflicts

They’re ensnared  by mental armory

And fences they raised in their heads

They breed a pride of defiance

And though the war be over

The freed decline to be unyoked

The children are yearning for heroes

Our backs are cold from waiting
